MV Ingenuity recovered two fishermen from sea

On March 8, 2024, at 08:30 local time, the crew of MV Ingenuity demonstrated exceptional professionalism and seamanship when responding to a distress call at Macapa Bay anchorage.

While MV Ingenuity was navigating through Macapa Bay anchorage, the duty officer on the bridge received a VHF call from MV Falcon Triumph reporting that two fishermen were in the water after their fishing boat sank.

Upon receiving the distress call, the crew of MV Ingenuity immediately initiated a coordinated search and rescue operation. Despite the challenging conditions, the crew of MV Ingenuity acted swiftly and decisively, maintained a vigilant watch and at 08:45 located the stranded fishermen approximately 100 meters from the vessel's port bow.

Following established protocols outlined in the company manual, the crew activated the general alarm, mustered all personnel at the designated muster station, and prepared the rescue boat for deployment. Additionally, communication was maintained with Feizandinha pilot station, and stand-by channels were monitored for further assistance.

Under the leadership of the Master, Chief Officer, and other key personnel, the recovery operation was meticulously planned and executed. Lifebuoys were launched, nets were prepared, and the crew remained focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of the individuals in distress.

At 09:00 local time, the recovery of the two fishermen commenced in accordance with established plans and procedures. Both individuals were safely brought aboard MV Ingenuity by 09:30 local time, where they received immediate medical attention and care.

Following the successful rescue operation, the fishermen were escorted to the ship's office, where they were provided with essential supplies, including t-shirts, blankets, tea, and food. Despite spending six hours in the water, both individuals were found to be in satisfactory health condition.
