Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation headquartered in Athens, Greece, has been providing shipping services for over 50 years.
The shipping group known today as “Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation” was founded in 1969 in Athens Greece by two partners as a purely ship management company.
The company managed by 1975 a total number of twelve small bulk carriers ranging between 8,000 DWT and 20,000 DWT. In that year the two partners split and a separate company was founded which managed and owned six ships.
That new company subsequently grew to one that managed seventeen dry cargo ships by 1981.
Since 1992, the Company has obtained its currently known name “Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation” and is an established international provider of sea-borne transportation services for bulk cargoes. Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation offers both short and long term employment of its managed ships to well known companies such as Bunge, Cargill, Toepfer, Coeclerici, Noble, PCL,Tradigrain, Glencore etc.
Management believes that, in recent years, Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation has established a reputation in the international shipping community for the high standards of safety, performance and reliability.
In 1995, Pioneer Tankers Shipping Corporation was set up, with the sole purpose of managing tanker tonnage that would be acquired by its existing clients. As a result of this, several product carriers were purchased between 1995 and 1999. The company created a reputation for transporting vegetable and palm oils around the world, with charterers of a high quality,such as Bunge, Cargill, Dreyfus, Kuok and Nidera. At the same time it also remained active in the CPP sector where it developed relations with oil majors and oil traders.
In 2000 the company bought its first crude tanker, an aframax, which would remain in the managed fleet for the next 5 years.
In October 2006 the company would proceed with its first new building order for four 50,500 dwt IMO 2+3 product carriers which would be built at the GSI shipyard in China. 3 of these vessels where delivered in 2010-11 and the fourth one in July 2014.
In January 2007, Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation took over the responsibility of managing all of the ships that were under the management of Pioneer Tankers Shipping Corporation.
In June 2015 the company placed its first ever order at a Japanese shipbuilder, by ordering two 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulk carriers at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co. Japan.
The delivery of the first kamsarmax bulk carrier that was build at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co. took place in September 2018.
In February 2019 the second of the two 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulk carriers was delivered at Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co. Japan.
In October 2020 Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation placed its third new building order this time at a South Korean shipbuilder, Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. LTD., ordering two 50,000 dwt product/chemical tankers. The vessels will be delivered in 2022.
The delivery of the first 50k dwt Product Tanker that was build at Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. LTD. took place in October 2022
In January 2023 the second 50k dwt IMO 3/2 Product Carrier was delivered at Dae Sun Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. LTD. in Korea.
On 10 February 2023 Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation placed its fourth new building order and its second at a Japanese shipbuilder, ordering three 81,800MT kamsarmax bulk carriers. The vessels will be delivered in 2025.
On 15 November 2023 Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation placed its fifth new building order at South Korea's K Shipbuilding Co LTD., ordering two 50,000 dwt Medium Range Chemical Tankers. The vessels will be delivered in Q3 2025.
On 20 May 2024 the company declared 2 additional options for the construction of two 50,000 dwt Medium Range Product tankers, which will be built at South Korea's K Shipbuilding Co LTD. The vessels will be delivered in first quarter of 2026.
