Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation is pleased to share that its community initiative, Sea of Smiles, has been honoured with a Recognition Medal in the Community Contribution Leader category at the ESG Shipping Awards International 2026.

Launched in December 2024, Sea of Smiles is a purpose-driven social engagement platform for the Greek maritime industry. It was developed in partnership with The Smile of the Child (Το Χαμόγελο του Παιδιού) — the largest and most rigorously audited child-protection NGO in Greece. The initiative name was deliberately chosen to reflect the identity of both organisations and their shared commitment to child welfare, social inclusion, and collective responsibility.

While the Greek maritime industry stands as a global leader in shipping, structured engagement between the sector and child-protection organisations had historically remained limited. Sea Pioneer identified this gap and acted as a catalyst, bridging maritime leadership with child protection.

The inaugural event combined direct financial support to the NGO with active hands-on involvement from Sea Pioneer in its organisation and delivery. Children supported by the NGO joined the children of Sea Pioneer colleagues and other stakeholders for a safe, inclusive, and joyful day centred on sport and participation — while simultaneously raising the visibility of the NGO's mission within the maritime community.

Sea of Smiles is designed to grow — an annual event that progressively brings more of the maritime community together in support of a cause that matters.
