MT Modesty rescues two persons from the sea
Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation would like to commend the Master and crew of M/T Modesty for their prompt and professional response in successfully rescuing two persons from the sea in the Yucatán Channel on 27 August 2026.
At approximately 18:40 local time, while the vessel was underway, the bridge watch sighted a capsized small boat with two persons in the water signalling for assistance. The Master was immediately informed and M/T Modesty altered course towards the persons in distress, while the crew prepared for their safe recovery.
At 19:40 local time, both persons were successfully recovered from the water and brought safely on board M/T Modesty.
Following their recovery, they were provided with dry clothing, blankets, food and drinking water. Both were conscious, cooperative and found to be in good general condition.
Following coordination with MRCC Mexico, M/T Modesty proceeded to the designated rendezvous position, where, in the early hours of 28 August, the two rescued persons were safely transferred to the Mexican Navy rescue boat MARINA RESCATE BR-103.
Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation is proud of the Master and crew of M/T Modesty for their decisive actions, professionalism and seamanship throughout the operation. Their response reflects the highest traditions of seafaring and our Company’s enduring commitment to the safety of life at sea.
